    Tecate axle swaps

Is there any alternative to wheel spacers for added width on a 84/85 Tecate? I have found bits and pieces about Lt 250 and 400ex swaps. What the real story? anybody have any creative combos they would like to share? Even If I found an extended kxt axle to buy, It would be a shame to risk ruining it. There has got to be a solution...

well miltech used to make extended swingers for them, and set them up to except the honda 400ex or 250r rear bearing carriers so you could use honda axles and have a better variety of choices for extended axles. but as far as a honda axle fitting a stock t3, i'm not sure it will. i think unless your able to find an aftermarket extended axle for the 84-85, you will have to go with spacers. thats what i am going to be using, +2.5 inches on each side.

Yea spacers is all you can do.. On our tecate we have honda hubs so we can use honda wheels and spacers because there is a wider variety of them.

My dad got them from a guy in south florida that made and had many trike parts.. They are honda bolt pattern on a kawasaki spline. So we use the stock kawasaki axle but can bolt on 4/110 honda wheels. We have +2 spacers on our bikes which we also got from this guy. THe hubs he had specially made for my dad's application.

Here see, we both have the same 10" douglas wheels on our bikes

Ok now I understand. I was hoping there was an actual Honda hub on your T3 that allowed you to run Honda wheels.

    Hagens Extender on Mik6's Tecate

It might work on an 84-85 Tecate. Heres some pics of it on Mik6's Trike.
See whats up with Miltech I hear they are good. Maybe you can find one.

I still believe an LT250R axle will work with the 6008LU axle bearings. When I did my orginal post about it I said the Brake hub lip would need to be turned down about 1/4". After I looked at my own pics I realized that lip is what goes inside the bearing seal. I never pressed the hub/axle all the way into the seal. Any way the dimension for where the bearings ride are very close and spacing the sprocket hub and brake caliper shouldn't be impossible.

Seeing as I am the only one with these two available I should prove it huh?

As far as 84-85 swingarm extension- It is steel isn't it? Cut and weld some more steel on.

i am 99% sure the 86 axle will work. you have to use the 86 carrier, sprocket hub, sprocket, brake rotor and hub... etc. basically a complet 86 rear end. it is wider and stronger.

An lt250 axle would be slick, The thought of a creative parts combo appeals to me. Guess i could graft a different carrier onto my tecate swingarm. How about 300ex? do those have steel swingarms? I would like to be around 50" without spacers.

xbasket is right you know. The 86 rear end will bolt into the 84/85 T3 swingarm and the axle is wider. Which also lets you run wider offset Honda 200X hubs and then if you were to run offset wheels you'd be in business.

I'd love to see how the LT axle fits!!! Do it nd4speed!
